Objetivou-se adaptar e utilizar o método de indução de mutação in vitro no melhoramento de crisântemo, mediante a irradiação de pedicelos de botões florais imaturos da cultivar Repin rosa, com raios-gama. Após a determinação do melhor meio de cultura para a regeneração e enraizamento dos pedicelos, e a determinação da sensitividade, realizou-se a irradiação com 8 Gy de raios-gama. As plantas regeneradas foram avaliadas no campo, durante a época de florescimento. No controle não apareceram mutantes, e nas plantas provenientes do tratamento foram selecionados 46 mutantes de coloração da inflorescência (cores bronze, champanhe, rosa-escuro e rosa mais claro que o controle) e um mutante com folhas variegadas.
