The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) is an applied policy research institute with a mission to conceptualize, inform and enhance the debate on human security in Africa; the organization supports policy formulation and decision making at every level towards the enhancement of human security for all in Africa. The conference was one of the scheduled activities during the first year of the ISS project.
