Uso de coletor de sucção no estudo da entomofauna em um pomar cítrico

This research on the entomofauna in a Citrus orchard in Piracicaba, SP, Brazil, was done with the intention to collect the smaller sized species and to analyse them faunistically. The colections were realized with a portable vacuum sampler model AS-ESALQ. Every week ten trees were selected at random and twenty sections were effected from each crown. At the family and species level the order Coleoptera was best represented. The faunistical indices showed that the species Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell, 1896) and Toxoptera citricidus (Kirk., 1907) have to be considered real insect pests of Citrus. The sampling method used showed to be valid for studying population dynamics of small sized insects.A pesquisa foi conduzida em um pomar cítrico, em Piracicaba, SP, visando levantar as espécies de pequeno porte, bem como analisá-las faunisticamente. As amostragens foram feitas com um coletor de sucção modelo AS-ESALQ. Semanalmente, escolheram-se dez plantas ao acaso e, em torno de cada copa, efetuaram-se vinte tomadas de sucção. A entomofauna aos níveis de família e espécie foi melhor representada pela ordem Coleoptera. As espécies Aleurothrixus floccosus (Maskell, 1896) e Toxoptera citricidus (Kirk, 1907), em face dos índices faunísticos apresentados, foram consideradas pragas, propriamente ditas, de citros. O método de amostragem usado é válido para estudos de dinâmica populacional de insetos de pequeno porte
