Simbiose de estirpes homólogas com linhagens de Centrosema pubescens

A greenhouse experiment was carried out with Centrosema pubescens Benth. comparing the variety "Deodoro" with 4 of its lines, to study differences in nodulation and plant yield, utilizing several different strains of Rhizobium. For the two harvests at 28 and 56 days alter sowing, highly significant strain effects were observed in nodulation and plant growth. Differences between lines were significant only in the first harvest. Line homologous strains seemed to produce more nodules than non-homologous ones. A highly significant regression of nodule weight and total plant nitrogen was found which was independent of the Rhizobium strain or host. There was an interaction between strains and harvests and therefore it was suggested that strain precocity is not the most important characteristic to be observed in strain selection for perennial plants. The use of more than one strain in the inoculant, one precocious and another with later high efficiency should be considered.Foi feito um experimento em condições de casa de vegetação, com linhagens de C. pubescens Benth comparando-as com o cultivar "Deodoro", para estudar os efeitos de estirpes homólogas de Rhizobium sp., na simbiose e desenvolvimento das plantas. Para as duas coletas efetuadas aos 28 e 56 dias, após o plantio, verificaram-se efeitos altamente significativos das estirpes na nodulação e desenvolvimento das plantas. As linhagens apresentaram diferenças significativas aos 28 dias do plantio. Na coleta aos 56 dias estas diferenças foram menores e, apesar de não significativas, a linhagem 5.1/64 apresentou 25% de nitrogênio a mais que o cultivar Deodoro. Foi encontrada regressão altamente significativa do N total das plantas com o peso de nódulos (r ═ 0,94), independentemente da estirpe de Rhizobium ou da linhagem de Centrosema. Diferenças encontradas na eficácia das estirpes entre coletas aos 28 e 58 dias após o plantio, mostraram que, para espécies perenes, nem sempre a precocidade deve ser a única característica a ser observada na seleção das estirpes.
