Concentrações relativas ótimas de nitrogênio, fósforo e enxofre, na adubação do cafeeiro, num Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro de Machado, MG

The N-P-S equilibria in coffee (Coffea arabica L.) fertilization (Catuaí cultivar) in a Dar-Red Latosol, "cerrado" phase, at Machado, MG, were studied under greenhouse conditions. The equilibria were tested in the N-P, P-S and S-N relations and the treatments were chosen according to Richard's Cut Method. The three cut values were defined, for N and P, as a function of the phosphate maximum adsorption, and for S, as a function of the sulfate maximum adsorption. In each nutrient binary relation and each cut, four equilibria were studied. The treatment effects were evaluated 20 months after planting by measuring total dry weight. The leaf N, P and S concentrations were also determined. For each nutrient relation, the lack of the third anion limited the plant growth, mainly for N in the cuts of the P-S relation. For the vegetative growth, the cut 0.4 was more effective than the cut 0.2 and equivalent or more effective than the cut 0.8. ln the N-P relation, when more N was added, the P requirement became higher. In the P-S relation, the optimum relative concentrations indicated that the demand of S increased with the addition of P. In the same way, in the S-N relation, for higher levels of N, more S was required. In general, for the best cut (0.4), the best equilibrium of the three nutrients was obtained with the application of 165 ppm of N, 80 ppm of P and 44 ppm of S. Some informations about the leaf N, P and S concentrations are presented. As concentrações relativas N-P-S, na adubação do cafeeiro (Coffea arabica L.) (cv. Catuaí), num Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro, fase cerrado, de Machado, MG, foram estudados em casa de vegetação. Para tanto, foram agrupados nas relações binárias N-P, P-S e S-N e os tratamentos para este estudo foram escolhidos de acordo com o método de cortes de Richard. Os valores dos três cortes foram definidos para N e P em função da capacidade máxima de adsorção de fosfatos, e para S, em função da capacidade máxima de adsorção de sulfatos. Dentro de cada relação binária e de cada corte foram estudadas quatro doses relativas. Os efeitos dos tratamentos foram avaliados 20 meses após o plantio, usando o peso de matéria seca total. Também foram determinados os teores de N, P e S de todas as folhas. No estudo das relações binárias realizado na ausência do terceiro ânion, este limitou o desenvolvimento das plantas, especialmente no caso do N, nos cortes da relação P-S. Quanto ao desenvolvimento vegetativo, o corte 0,4 foi superior ao 0,2 e equivalente ou superior ao 0,8. Na relação N-P, à medida que aumentou a adição de N, o requerimento de P passou a ser cada vez maior. Na relação P-S, as concentrações relativas ótimas indicaram que, com o aumento da adição de P tornou-se necessário adicionar cada vez mais S. Na relação S-N, observou-se também que o aumento da adição de N exigiu maior adição de S. De modo geral, para o melhor corte (0,4) seria necessária a adição de 165 ppm de N, 80 ppm de P e 44 ppm de S. Comentários relativos aos teores de N, P e S nas folhas são feitos.
