Each AIDS Review seeks to address a particular question and in discussing and answering it, broadens knowledge and understanding of HIV and AIDS. “What's Cooking” critically examines the socio-economic conditions that underpin food insecurity that also perpetuate the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The issue focuses on the impact of the epidemic on agriculture, and the politics of food access and production. It argues that the effects of HIV/AIDS and those of food insecurity are best understood by taking into account the specifics of the historical development of South Africa's political economy, especially in the development of the agricultural sector
