ABSTRACT Lantana sp. is a one of medically plant. This plant produce triterpenoid compounds, consist of: oleanolic acid,lantic acid, and camarinic acid that have antibacterial characteristic. The effective concentration of Lantanasp. leaf extract that inhibite Staphylococcus aureus growt is not yet known. This research is done to know: 1) theeffect of Lantana camara var. nivea leaf extract and Lantana sellowiana leaf extract in several concentrationin growth inhibition of S. aureus in vitro; 2) the most effective concentration of Lantana camara var. nivea andLantana sellowiana leaves extract in the growth inhibition of S. aureus in vitro. The leaf extraction process withmethanol as the solvent in order to get the extract with 100% concentration. The solution were delute in severalconcentration: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% with methanol. Each extract were treaded to the S. aureus culturein Nutrient Agar Plate medium with diffusion agar method and incubated in 37oC, during1x24 hours. The diameter of growth inhibition zone of S. aureus were measured. The research results shows that:1) the leaf extract of Lantana camara var. nivea and Lantana sellowiana can inhibite the growth of S. aureus invitro; 2) the most effective concentration of Lantana camara var. nivea leaf extract in the growth inhibition ofStaphylococcus aureus was 50% andthe most effective concentration of Lantana sellowiana leaf extract in thegrowth inhibition if Staphylococcus aureus was 40%. ABSTRAK Tanaman tembelekan (Lantana sp.) merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman berkhasiat obat. Tanaman tersebutmengandung senyawa triterpenoid, terdiri dari: oleanotic acid, lantic acid, dan camarinic acid, yang bersifatanti bakteri. Konsentrasi efektif ekstrak daun tembelekan yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan S. aureusbelum diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun tembelekan berbungaputih (Lantana camara var. nivea) dan daun tembelekan berbunga ungu (Lantana sellowiana) dalam beberapamacam konsentrasi terhadap penghambatan pertumbuhan S. aureus secara in vitro; 2) mengetahui konsentrasiekstrak daun tembelekan berbunga putih dan tembelekan berbunga ungu yang paling efektif dalam menghambatpertumbuhan S. aureus secara in vitro. Ekstraksi daun tembelekan dengan pelarut methanol, sehinggadiperoleh ekstrak dengan konsentrasi 100%, lalu dilakukan pengenceran ekstrak sehingga diperoleh ekstrakdengan konsentrasi: 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, dan 90%. Masing-masing ekstrak diperlakukanpada biakan S. aureus pada medium Nutrien Agar dengan metode difusi agar. Selanjutnya pengukurandiameter zona hambat pertumbuhan S. aureus yang diperlakukan dengan ekstrak daun tembelekan berbungaputih dan yang berbunga ungu dalam beberapa macam konsentrasi tersebut. Daya hambat pertumbuhan S.aureus ditentukan berdasarkan hasil pengukuran diameter zona hambat pertumbuhan S. aureus pada mediumNutrien Agar. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa: 1) ada pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak dauntembelekan berbunga putih dan ekstrak daun tembelekan berbunga ungu terhadap penghambatan pertumbuhanS. aureus secara in vitro; 2) konsentrasi ekstrak methanol daun L. camara var nivea yang paling efektifialah 50% sedangkan konsentrasi ekstrak daun L. sellowiana yang paling efektif 40%
