The article describes the landscape of existing resources, both financial and structural, to support global tobacco control research and strengthen research capacity in developing countries. It identifies key organizations that support international efforts, provides examples of partnerships between developed and developing countries, and makes recommendations for advancing global tobacco research. Current research in global tobacco control has been published in a report prepared by Research for International Tobacco Control (RITC), an international multi-donor secretariat housed at the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa, Canada
