TREN LAHIR MATI DAN KEMATIAN NEONATAL DI INDONESIA, HASIl SURVEI KESEHATAN TAHUN 1995-2007

Neonatal health problem in Indonesia has not been handled optimally yet; the result of Indonesia Demography Health Survey 2007 showed that the Neonatal Mortality Rate in 5 years period did not decrease significantly, still in range of 19-20 per 1,000 LB. The MDG of reducing mortality among children under five by two-third in 2015 cannot be achieved without strengthening the neonatal program seriously. The purpose of these literature study is to find out the trend of still birth and early neonatal (aged0-6 days) death (END) proportion, as well as the neonatal cause of death from Household Health Surveys 1995,2001, and Baseline Research 2007. The methodology of the three surveys were cross sectional, using National Socio-Economic Survey Core 1995, 2001, and 2007. The number of sample were consisting of206,000, 211,000, and 280,000 households respectively, chosen through probability proportional to size selection. The results showed that still birth and END proportion in Indonesia decreased gradually from1995-2007. Respiratory disorders proportion (birth asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration), and sepsis as early neonatal cause of death tend increased, while in late neonatal death (aged 7-28 days) more diseases as cause of death increased that is respiratory disorders, premature and low birthweight, sepsis, and congenital anomaly. Over all, the diseases should be handled seriously was respiratory disorders, premature and low birth weight, sepsis neonatorum. Again, the program manager should seriously be concerned and take care of maternal hypertension disorder, and maternal delivery complication such as antepartum haemorrhage, intrapartum infection, to prevent pregnant mothers and their babies from maternal and neonatal death.
