EFEKTIVITAS DIAGNOSIS MIKROSKOPIS MALARIA DI PUSKESMAS DONGGALA, PUSKESMAS LEMBASADA, DAN PUSKESMAS KULAWI, PROVINSI SULAWESI TENGAH

Effectivity of Microscopic Diagnosis of Malaria in Community Health Center Donggala, Lembasada, Kulawi, Central Sulawesi Province.Treatment for malaria in Donggala District, Central Sulawesi Province, is still mainly based onclinical diagnosis and only a few cases are based on microscopic diagnosis. The aim of this study is toevaluate the efficacy of microscopic diagnosis (microscopist skills) for malaria in community healthcenters and means to treat malaria properly. This cross-sectional study was undertaken at 3 community health centers in Donggala District from June to November 2005. The number of samples was 566 subjects. The measurement was done by calculating the reliability of microscopic diagnosis between microscopist at community health center, district microscopist, and central office microscopist as a goldstandard. The reliability of microscopic diagnosis of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax in Lambasada Community Health Center and Kulawi were not good (Kappa = -0.01-0.15), whereas in Donggala Community Health Center it is no different but with a higher Kappa value (Kappa = 0.29-0.35).The highest number of mistakes were made by microscopist at Kulawi Community Health Center (28.3%), followed by microscopist at Donggala Community Health Center ( 17.24%), and Lambasada (6.87%).Keywords: Effectivity, Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, microscopic diagnosi
