HIPERTENSI PADA IBU HAMIL: Survei Kesehatan Rumah Tangga 1986

A cross sectional survey was conducted in 1986 to study pregnancy related problems in a sampled population. Among 3394 pregnant women, 6.4% had diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg and over. The rate of hypertension was 7.0% for mothers aged less than 20 years, and it increased to 10.4% for mothers aged 40 years and over. Hypertension in pregnancy was more frequently found in the third trimester of gestational period. In the first trimester 5.1% pregnant women had hypertension, this rate increased with the gestational age and reached 11.1% at maturity. The incidence of hypertension in pregnancy was slightly higher in the first pregnancies. It declined in the second through the fourth pregnancies and then increased again in further pregnancies. The relative risks of hypertension in the third trimester of pregnancy, were significantly high for those delivering at age less than 20 years or 35 years and over. The relative risks of hypertension in the third trimester of pregnancy, were also significantly high for the first pregnancies or further pregnancies after the fourth. To minimize the mortality and morbidity associated with the hypertensive disorders in pregnancy there should be more effective antenatal care for early detection. All cases with such disorders should be referred to more skilled health providers and better equiped facilities
