African-American women\u27s maternal mortality is significantly higher than that of white women. This is because of the intersectional oppression of sexism and racism, which significantly limits these women\u27s access to quality healthcare through their pregnancy and during and after birth. This access is impeded by healthcare practitioners\u27 implicit biases, which result in these practitioners not providing their patients with the quality of care they need
