Soybean is genotype-dependent as it has been shown. This has lead to work on new protocols for plant regeneration. This research aimed to achieve growth and germination of somatic embryos in the Cuban varieties Incasoy-1 and Incasoy-27. Somatic embryos in globular stage (100 mg) were used as initial plant material. These were obtained after four weeks of culture in semisolid culture medium. Morphological characterization of somatic embryos was performed after 30 days. Then, the increase in fresh weight (mg) was determined. The percentage of germination was calculated in the germination phase and the number of somatic embryos that germinated on 100 mg was quantified.
