In Greek religion for some mythical figures the death represents the most important stage of transition to a new world and a new divine status: in particular, the death of Greek manteis justifies their original chthonic nature. In this paper we show how in Amphiaraos and in his worship each element of the myth and ritual points out a complex figure of heros and daimon, which is transformed, leaving gradually the original heroic world and taking the final aspect of a god.
