Chinese cities are becoming the most discussed ones in the reflections on the urban contemporary problems. Big Chinese cities have characters of complexity and often the aspect of a fortuitous settlement, but the actual urban form can be indagated by the study of some differents inhabiting use. Everyone gives different forms to the neighbourhoods: it’s an expression of the period of a social settlement signed, as the Chinese history, by the dialogue between tradictions and revolutions. Through the description of four ‘models’ (tradictional, hibrid, socialist, of the social market economy) and the future tendences (sustainable cities) we can read a big part of the Chinese urban phenomena
