Backgound and Objectives: Infections related to central venous catheter (CVC) use constitute an important a problem. It is estimated that approximately 90% of bloodstream infections (BSI) are caused by CVC use. This study aims at reviewing the risk factors and current recommendations for prevention of infections associated with central venous catheter use.
