Preschool teachers' knowledge of first aid procedures for preschool children

The theme of diploma thesis is the preschool teachers' knowledge of first aid procedures for preschool children. In theoretical part of the thesis, I have presented the importance of safety in kindergarten. I described some urgent medical conditions, such as febrile convulsions, anaphylactic reactions, epileptic fits, hypoglycaemia and some types of injuries. First aid procedures are defined for each of these emergency conditions. I briefly described the basic procedure of resuscitation and the usage of automatic defibrillator. I exposed the importance of preschool teacher's competency of first aid procedures in kindergarten. In the empirical part of the thesis, I presented the results of the questionnaires that I had given to preschool teachers. I was interested whether the preschool teachers were familiar with the first aid’s measures and whether they were given education in this field. Furthermore, I wondered whether the knowledge of first aid procedures differs according to frequency of education, workplace and years of service. I have found out that the frequency of education affects first aid knowledge, as well as the workplace and working life of an employee
