Sivil Savunma ve Itfaiyecilik Programı Öğrencilerinin Eğitimleri Hakkındaki Görüşleri ile Mezuniyet Sonrasında Afetlerde Çalışma Isteklilikleri

In this study, the civil defence and firefighting program students' opinions regarding their education and their willingness to respond disasters after graduation was investigated. In the period of the study there were 11 universities which hosted civil defence and firefighting programs. The study is a descriptive epidemiological study. The data were collected by the researcher with a questionnaire composed of 58 items. The rate of participation was 65.5%. The average age of the students was 20,0±1,8 years. Of the participants, 96.0% were males and 99.3% were single. The students preferred this program because of the availability of various job opportunities (53.4%), because they liked it (45.6%), and as they wanted to help humans (31.8%). Of the students, 42.5% considered their education in the civil defence and firefighting program as insufficient. Of the students, 32.5% were not satisfied with the education given in the civil defence and firefighting program. Majority of the students (90.9%) were satisfied to prefer the civil defence and firefighting program. The students mostly proposed "increase in practices", "establishing application fields" and "providing equipments and materials" in order to improve the education in civil defence and firefighting programs. Of the students, 82.8% said that they would like to work in disasters after graduation, whereas 16.3% were indecisive. After graduation, the students were less willing to work in epidemic disasters (32.1%) and nuclear accidents (42.4%). The students said that "lack of personal protective equipments" (57,0%), "lack of personal safety (50,8%), "having concern on family safety and health issues" (49,7%), "lacking knowledge on risks" (49,5%), "lacking training in disasters" (48,9%) and "having kins to take care of" (33,5%) decreased their willingness to respond to disasters.Bu araştırmada çalışmanın yapıldığı dönemde Türkiye'de 11 üniversitede bulunan sivil savunma ve itfaiyecilik programı öğrencilerinin eğitimleri hakkındaki görüşleri ile mezuniyet sonrasında afetlerde çalışma isteklilikleri incelenmiştir. Araştırma tanımlayıcı tipte epidemiyolojik bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada veriler, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan 58 soruluk anket formu kullanarak toplanmıştır. Çalışmaya katılım sıklığı %65,5'dir. Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20,0±1,8 yıl bulunmuştur. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin %96,0'ı erkek, %99,3'ü bekâr olduğunu belirtmiştir. Öğrenciler bu programı en çok iş imkânı olduğu için (%53,4), sevdiği için (%45,6) ve insanlara yardım etmek istedikleri için (%31,8) tercih ettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Öğrencilerin %42,5'i genel olarak sivil savunma ve itfaiyecilik programından aldığı eğitimi yetersiz, %32,5'i aldığı eğitimden memnun olmadığını belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğu (%90,9) sivil savunma ve itfaiyecilik programını seçmekten memnun olduğunu belirtmiştir. Öğrenciler sivil savunma ve itfaiyecilik programı eğitimlerinin daha iyi olması için en fazla yaptıkları öneriler; uygulamaların artırılması, uygulama alanlarının oluşturulması ve yeterli ekipman ve malzemenin sağlanması olmuştur. Öğrencilerin %82,8'i mezuniyet sonrasında afetlerde çalışmak istediğini belirtirken, %16,3'ü kararsız olduğunu belirtmiştir. Öğrencilerin mezuniyet sonrasında çalışmak için en az istekli oldukları afetler bulaşıcı hastalık kaynaklı afetler (%32,1) ile nükleer kaza kaynaklı afetler (%42,4) olmuştur. Öğrenciler kişisel koruyucu ekipmanların olmaması (%57,0), kişisel güvenliğinin olmaması (%50,8), ailesinin güvenliği ve sağlığı ile ilgili endişesinin olması (%49,7), riskle ilgili bilgisinin eksik olması (%49,5), afet ile ilgili eğitiminin olmaması (%48,9) ve bakmak zorunda olduğu aile bireylerinin olması (%33,5) afetlerde çalışmada istekliliğini azalttığını belirtmiştir
