The article by Agata Kluczek devoted to the functioning of the myth of Augustus in the political propaganda of the Empire under the reign of the emperor Gallienus (AD 253—268). This myth was consciously propagated and it was by no means accidental that Augustus was referred to as a ruler that brought prosperity back to the Roman state after a long period of strife and civil wars. Gallienus’s purpose was to advertise his intentions, analogous to Augustus’s activity, and to muster the necessary public support
