The Chinese economy has been growing rapidly, and well trained engineers are increasingly in demand for product development. Through an Asia-Link project, a short training course, Advanced Product Development, was delivered for the training of teaching staff from China. The course covered advanced design methods, skills and management, concurrent engineering, and project exercises. A post-course survey showed that the course contents were subsequently applied within teaching and research in China owing to the advanced contents covered in the teaching materials and research ideas
