In this study, both parametric (SFA) and non-parametric (DEA) efficiency approaches were used to analyse the technical efficiency (TE) of Hungarian farms before and after the accession. Slightly different results were obtained with SFA and DEA. After years of decreasing technical efficiency scores, accession seems to have halted the process and positively influence the evolution of average technical efficiency. A number of determinants of TE provide a plausible explanation of the evolution of efficiency
