In this work the reinforcement of Portland cement matrices with cellulose kraft pulps was studied. It is known that the alkalinity of the cement paste deteriorates the fiber. In this sense, we tried to produce a less aggressive matrix to the fibers by adding natural latex and replacing part of the Portland cement for metakaolin. Flexural strength tests and water absorption were made on composites at 28 days of age. After the flexural tests, the samples were submitted to X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
