The global emergence of obesity as an epidemic has made fatty liver disease a public health problem. The net consequence of hepatic steatosis is progresses to steatohepatitis and cirrhosis. Although liver biopsy is currently the gold standard for diagnosis, there is a need for less invasive methods.
