Precursors of hematopoietic stem cells (pre-HSCs) have been identified as intermediate precursors during the maturation process from hemogenic endothelial cells to HSCs in the aorta-gonad-mesonephros (AGM) region of the mouse embryo at embryonic day 10.5.
