Large eddy simulation (LES) is currently applied in a wide range of engineering applications. Classical LES combustion models are based on algebraic expressions and assume equilibrium between turbulence and flame wrinkling which is generally not verified in many circumstances as the flame is laminar at early stages and progressively wrinkled by turbulent motions. In practice, this conceptual drawback has a strong consequence: every computation needs its own set of constants, i.e. any small change in the operating conditions or in the geometry requires an adjustment of model parameters.
