International audienceThis paper presents an equivalent strain approach to reduce multiaxial magneto-elastic configurations into 1-D descriptions. It follows similar principles as those used for equivalent stress approaches. The approach can be easily implemented into magneto-elastic constitutive equations using strain as driving mechanical state variable. It is particularly useful to describe 3-D configurations when only 1-D measurements are available to describe the magneto-elastic behavior
