This article has evaluated the impact of using Meta tag on the improvement of information retrieval of the World Wide Web. So it reviewed the research papers that have examined Meta tag as a means to enhance information retrieval. Results showed there were some researches that have confirmed the using of Meta tags was efficient for improving information retrieval of the web, but results of a research that has done by Mohamed (2006) indicated no significant difference in the rank of pages that include metadata and those that don't include any metadata.
