BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Airway obstruction is a lethal complication of anterior cervical discectomy and prevertebral soft tissue swelling after surgery is one the important causes of this complication. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of local steroid injection on prevertebral soft tissue swelling after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). METHODS: This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 40 patients hospitalized in Qazvin educational & clinical Rajaee hospital who were candidates for ACDF in one to three segments because of myelopathy or radiculopathy.
