Background: Patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis recently treated with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are always classified as at high risk for surgery, given that they are required uninterrupted dual antiplatelet therapy.
