ANALISA YURIDIS NORMATIF PERBANDINGAN SERTIFIKASI HALAL TOURISM (FOOD AND HOTELS) BERBASIS SYARIAH DI MALAYSIA, INDONESIA, DAN THAILAND

The halal tourism industry is currently growing rapid, therefore the implementation of halal tourism itself must be in accordance with the principles of Islamic sharia that are applied to attractions, accessibility, and accommodation. Halal issue is not only a religious matter but it has become a business global scale issue, so that the quality assurance of food products and sharia hotels through halal certification is imperative.This study aimed at getting an in depth understanding upon comparing the halal tourism certification of food and hotels in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand as well as the implications of providing halal tourism branding towards the number of Muslim tourist visits. The methodology utilized in this study is normative juridical analysis of regulations, annual reports, journals, news, and websites relevant to each country. The finding reveals that each country has its own halal certification authority, mechanism that is based on their individual needs, different audit objects, certain halal standards, and different strategy to succeed in halal tourism. However, there are also similarities in terms of the institutional function, the period of the certification validity, basis of the implementation, and the construction of mosques as an attraction. The global competition to improve the quality of halal products in accordance with Islamic Sharia is what makes the appreciation received by each country to be different. The higher the global ranking a country has, the greater the number of foreign tourist visits, especially those with Islamic religion
