A STUDY ON THE TECHNIQUE OF TEACHING SPEAKING USED BY THE TUTOR AT GLOBAL ENGLISH COURSE, PARE KEDIRI

This study was conducted in order to know what are the techniques of teaching speaking used by the tutor and the problem faced by the tutor in implementing those technique at Global English Course, Pare Kediri. This study was using descriptive qualitative. The data of this research was gained by involving an English teacher and also intermediate class which consist of 12 students. There were two instruments in collecting data in this research, those were observation and interview to the teacher. From the data observation, there were three techniques that were usually used by the tutor in teaching speaking. They were debate, discussion and speech. Moreover, the data from interview the tutor, the researcher found that the tutor faced some problems in implementing the technique of teaching speaking. Those problems came from the students itself. They were less preparation for the topic. Therefore, they could not predict the question that would be given by their friends. It made them could not answer the question. Also, they lost concentration and lacked of currency. It made teaching and learning did not run well cause there were some students discussed something else that did not related to the topic. The last, they were less developing idea and not confidence enough. There were some students who less active to speak and they were not brave to speak in front of public
