This paper presents measurements of total stress and pore pressure made during and after the installation of a reduced scale group of five piles in a soft estuarine silt. The instrumentation includes pore pressure and lateral stress sensors on the shaft of the centre pile, in addition to pneumatic piezometers positioned in the ground both within and beyond the pile group perimeter. When examined in conjunction with other data from the same site, the results demonstrate the effect of multiple pile installations on the stress regime in the ground.non-peer-reviewe
