Syphilis, an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Treponema Pallidum, affects people exposed to this bacterium and has a major impairment when it affects pregnant women and children born to mothers with the disease. Objective: to analyze the temporal trend of morbidity and mortality by congenital syphilis and gestational syphilis in the state of Santa Catarina from 2008 to 2018. Method: An ecological study was carried out based on the reports of gestational syphilis and congenital syphilis in the year 2008 to 2018, in Santa Catarina state; the data were obtained from databases of the Information System of Notifiable Diseases and demographic data through DATASUS.
