This article is an unfolding about the topical of animal welfare and responsible tenure involving cats and dogs in public health. This research has the intension to present, through a bibliographic research the importance of animal welfare and responsible tenure in a context of the Brazilian society in the sense of animal protection relating to Social Service.Este artigo é um desdobramento sobre a temática do Bem-estar animal e da posse responsável envolvendo cães e gatos na saúde pública.
