This work aims to understand the impact of fatigue on the crew and its relation with aeronautical accidents. In the research, the causes and effects of fatigue in the crew were addressed, as well as the characteristics of the work environment in the flight deck, irregular schedules, besides the importance of sleep and circadian cycle. The technical, physical and psychological capabilities of the crew were shown to be impaired when fatigued. This may induce the crew to make pilot judgment errors, affecting situational awareness and attention level, posing a great risk to flight safety.
