Introduction: Down's Syndrome is the most common genetic alteration among humans, resulting from the trisomy of chromosome 21. The foundations that support the evidence on the person with T21 are presented in a tripod of characteristics, namely: phenotype, hypotonia and intellectual impairment. The diagnostic hypothesis of Down's syndrome can be performed in a pre and postnatal period, confirmed by chromosome analysis. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people with Down syndrome corresponds to 10% of the global population and the same percentage is attributed to the Brazilian population.
