This research has as general objective to understand the contributing factors to the problem of collision with the terrain in controlled flight, as well as analyze some cases of accidents occurred for this reason, and to propose alternatives to reduce events of this type, the meteorology is extremely dynamic , but it is the responsibility of the pilots to avoid and manage this situations. As for the methodology, the explanatory research was used. and in relation to the collection of data, it is a bibliographical and documentary research Articles issued by national and international aviation bodies, academic papers and regulations, as well as the legislation in force, especially situations involving collisions into the ground and how to avoid this situations. The approach used was qualitative. When analyzing the results obtained with the research, it is concluded that new navigation techniques and procedures has a high level of safety in order for flights to be safe for all, and that all pilots can enjoy the modern navigation procedures offered. However, it is essential that all pilots before their flights consult and make their plans and detailed so that they do not enter an area of bad weather to avoid the CFIT, increasing the aviation safety standard.Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo geral compreender os fatores contribuintes para o problema de colisão com o terreno em voo controlado, bem como analisar estudos de casos de acidentes ocorridos por esse motivo, e propor alternativas para mitigar eventos desse tipo. Sabe se que a meteorologia é extremamente dinâmica, porém cabe aos pilotos saber gerenciar essas situações adversas. Quanto à metodologia, foi usada a pesquisa explicativa, e em relação à coleta de dados, trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, com abordagem qualitativa. Foram utilizados artigos expedidos pelos órgãos de aviação nacional e internacional, e trabalhos acadêmicos e regulamentos, bem como a legislação em vigor, ao analisar os resultados obtidos com a pesquisa, conclui-se que os novos meios e instrumentos de navegação estão já incluídos nos procedimentos aéreos com nível de segurança elevado, cabendo aos pilotos usufruírem dos meios modernos de navegação oferecidos. Todavia é fundamental que todos os pilotos antes de seus voos consultem e façam seus planejamentos e detalhados para que não entrem em área de mau tempo e assim evitando o CFIT, elevando assim o nível de segurança na aviação
