The aimed of this cross-sectional study, approved by CEP-UNISUL, was to analyze the prevalence of self-reported diabetes mellitus (DM) and its associated factors in the capitals of the south Brazil states by evaluation of the data from the adult population of both sexes interviewed by VIGITEL in 2014. These data were processed by the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), collected from the microdata system of Brazil’s Ministry of Health and analyzed by the SPSS 18.0 program with the Chi-square test.
