Comparative analysis between the cytopathological and histopathological diagnoses of bitches with breast neoplasias treated at the Veterinary Hospital Unisul from august 2016 to sptember 2017

Mammary neoplasms (NM) are the most frequent tumors in bitches from the age of six years. These NM rarely affect the males, presenting incidence of 0 to 2.7%, however, once present, is highly malignant. The microscopic analysis of the tissues is a very important tool in the diagnosis of this condition, allows a detailed investigation and covers the cellular particularities until the tissue architecture. Cytopathological and histopathological analyzes are used for this purpose. The present study had as objective to make a comparative analysis between the cytopathological and histopathological diagnoses, to evaluate the degree of agreement of the same ones, in bitches attended with mammary neoplasias at the Hospital Veterinário Unisul from August 2016 to September 2017. cases of bitches who underwent cytopathological examination and histopathological examination. Of these 06 cases, 17% (1/6) presented a concordant diagnosis and 83% (5/6) did not agree. Although the number of samples is reduced, this study confirms that the cytopathologic technique should not be used as the only diagnostic medium, and the histopathological analysis should be performed to obtain the definitive diagnosis.As neoplasias mamárias (NM) são os tumores mais freqüentes em cadelas a partir dos seis anos de idade. Essas NM raramente acometem os machos, apresentando incidência de 0 a 2,7%, entretanto, uma vez presente, é altamente maligna. A análise microscópica dos tecidos é uma ferramenta muito importante no diagnóstico dessa afecção, permite uma averiguação minuciosa e abrange as particularidades celulares até a arquitetura tecidual. Para tal utilizam-se as análises citopatológica e histopatológica. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo fazer uma análise comparativa entre os diagnósticos citopatológico e histopatológico, para avaliar o grau de concordância das mesmas, em cadelas atendidas com neoplasias mamárias no Hospital Veterinário Unisul no período de Agosto de 2016 a Setembro de 2017. Foram avaliados 06 casos de cadelas que realizaram o exame citopatológico e o exame histopatológico. Destes 06 casos, 17% (1/6) apresentaram diagnóstico concordante e 83% (5/6) não concordância. Apesar do número de amostras ser reduzido, este estudo confirma que a técnica citopatológica não deve ser utilizada como único meio diagnóstico, deve ser também efetuada a análise histopatológica para obtenção do diagnóstico definitivo
