Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare, ex vivo, the effectiveness of calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] and Lemon Tea Tree essential oil (LTT) against E. faecalis biofilm on root canal of bovine teeth. Methods: After E. faecalis biofilm formation in 42 dentin tubes of bovine teeth, the specimens were randomly divided according to the intracanal dressing (n=10): G1- Ca(OH)2; G2- LTT 5%; e G3- control - saline 0.85%. After 7 days, intracanal medication was removed and the collection of microbiological samples from the remaining biofilm was performed. The dentin tubes without medication were immediately immersed in sterile culture medium and stored for 7 days to allow the analysis of residual antimicrobial effect of each medication. ...
