A utilização das plantas medicinais e óleos essenciais pelos naturólogos: caracterização e simbolismo

Historically, the medicinal use of plants is associated with customs, magic, and religious practices. The therapeutic use of medicinal plants, and aromatherapy, refers to the therapeutic use of the essential oils extracted from medicinal plants. Another resource would be the symbol, which may be a word, an expression or a figure that seems very close to our daily contact, and can be interpreted beyond what is notorious. The research aimed to investigate what are and how are used medicinal plants and essential oils used in therapeutics and also the symbolism involved in the application / interpretation of these resources by naturalists. The five medicinal plants most used with symbolic application and interpretation were rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), ginger (Zingiber officinale), lavender (Lavanda officinalis), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus). The five essential oils most used with symbolic application and interpretation are ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), lavender (Lavender officinalis), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), bergamot ( Citrus bergamia), lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and orange (Citrus aurantium), appear in the same percentage of the most used by naturólogos. It was carried out a characterization of the plants and essential oils most used with symbolic application and interpretation, besides a deepening of the research with the symbolic representation on the relations with psychoemotional aspects, parts of the plants, relation with the history of use and types of therapeutic approach naturologists.Historicamente, o uso medicinal das plantas está associado a costumes, magia e práticas religiosas. Surge então, a utilização terapêutica das plantas medicinais e, a aromaterapia. Outro recurso seria o símbolo, que pode ser um vocábulo, uma expressão ou uma figura que nos parece muito próxima ao nosso contato diário, podendo ser interpretada além do que está notório. A pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar quais são e como são empregadas as plantas medicinais e os óleos essenciais utilizados na terapêutica e, também, o simbolismo envolvido na aplicação/interpretação desses recursos pelos naturólogos. As cinco plantas medicinais mais utilizadas com aplicação e interpretação simbólica foram: alecrim (Rosmarinus officinalis), gengibre (Zingiber officinale), lavanda (Lavanda officinalis), gerânio (Pelargonium graveolens) e capim-limão (Cymbopogon citratus). Os cinco óleos essenciais mais utilizados com aplicação e interpretação simbólica refere-se a ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), gerânio (Pelargonium graveolens), cipreste (Cupressus sempervirens), lavanda (Lavanda officinalis), sendo que alecrim (Rosmarinus officinalis), bergamota (Citrus bergamia), capim-limão (Cymbopogon citratus) e laranja (Citrus aurantium), aparecem na mesma porcentagem dos mais utilizados pelos naturólogos. Foi realizada uma caracterização das plantas e óleos essenciais mais utilizados com aplicação e interpretação simbólica, além de um aprofundamento da pesquisa com a representação simbólica sobre as relações com aspectos psicoemocionais, partes das plantas, relação com o histórico de uso e formas de abordagem terapêutica realizadas pelos naturólogos
