The article analyses the first two Libri delle rime spirituali [Books of Spiritual Poems], printed in Venice in 1550 – one of the most important cases of religious anthology in the Italian XVIth century. Following the summary of the content of these works, the article aims to provide the sources employed to make the books and to analyse the subject. The discovery of two manuscripts containing Antonio Agostino Torti’s works, one of the anthologised authors, can illuminate both his religious and literary background, as well as the heterodox outline of the printed anthology
