This article examines the footwear of the 17th century Lithuanian town citizens based on archaeological findings. As a typical case, the 17th century footwear findings from an archaeological excavation carried out in the town of Žagarė in 2012 (archaeologist dr. Ernestas Vasiliauskas) are presented and analysed in detail. The two low-cut shoes and three mules discovered in Žagarė remain the most informative archaeological findings representing the footwear of town residents that were found not in the territories of significant old trading centers, but periphery towns.
