The present article concerns historical prose of Bulat Okudzava, namely the Unfortunate Avrosimov (1969), Cases of Shypov... (1970), Journeys of Dilettantes (1977), and A Meeting with Bonaparte (1983) novels. The analysis was made with consideration of guidelines of the intertextual method. The text concentrates on one of the aspects of the mentioned novels - the presence of forms that are on the borderline of literature and document, literary and practical texts, literature and para-literature in their structure. The author tries to find the answer to the question of a meaning of the presence of such forms as a letter, diary, and journal in the prose of Bulat Okudzava.
