One of the results of the globalisation of the market and the growing pressure for competitiveness is that the practice of mergers and take-over bids has become widespread in Europe, whereas it has been so far particularly typical of the United States. From a formal point of view, we distinguish horizontal, vertical mergers and the form of the conglomerate.
