National audienceInfestation size ofpea weevil (Sitona lineatus L.) and damages on pea crops have been studied in farmers' plots during a three years program in northern Seine-et-Marne district (French Bassin parisien), with special attention to the effects of sowing dates. Great differences do exist each year between plots and even within a plot, regarding the importance of attacks by adults at emergence of the pea crop. The sowing date has a significant effect on the percentage of plots showing serious attacks: the earliest the crop is sown in a given year, the highest the risk of a serious attack.
