International audienceThe paper reports our interesting results gained during these last yearsabout the role of microstructure on strain localization of three different types ofmetallic alloys. The benefit of using advanced techniques (TEM, AFM,SEM-ECCI) is pointed out. Strain gradient and strain localization at microscopicscale and strain partition at mesoscopic scale are discussed and allow explanationsfor crack initiation site, precipitate dissolution or cyclic accommodation
