John Everett Seddelmeyer was born in Hammond, Indiana. After graduating from Hammond High School, in 1967, Seddelmeyer enrolled at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He received his A.B. degree, in History and Philosophy, in 1971. In the fall of 1971, Seddelmeyer enrolled at the Indiana University School of Law. While in law school, Seddelmeyer served as a Notes Editor for the Indiana Law Journal (v.49) and authored the note, “The ABCD’s of Indiana Legitimation Law” (see below).
