It has been used for a long time mainly as a finishing process, although this situation is changing, with the development of creep feed grinding, and high efficiency deep grinding. In these processes, grinding is a stock removal, and finishing operation. The quality of the finished component is usually assessed in terms of form, surface roughness, and thermal damage.
