L'hydrothermalisme : un phénomène cyclique dans les temps géologiques. Conséquences pour la prospection minière au Maroc

The compilation of 30 years of industrial and scientific advances in the knowledge of Moroccan mineral deposits leads to a synthetic overview of their position in space and time. Six successive metallogenic hydrothermal events can be distinguished from the Neoproterozoic to present day, each of them associated with a particular geodynamic context. Exploration strategies in Morocco must take into account the fundamental characteristics of the existing mineral deposit as exposed here. Particularly relevant would be : (i) the high potential of the Precambrian-Cambrian transition and associated high K, calk-alkaline to alkaline magmatism rooted in the lower crust and/or the mantle, allowing large inputs of juvenile fluids and metals in the upper crust circulating along deep lithospheric faults ; (ii) the existence of interesting IOCG-like gold mineralization in the Ordovician series which now opens new regional targets for exploration in these horizons ; (iii) the importance of the Variscan tectonic events (e.g. shear zones), well recognized today in the Anti-Atlas which might lead to base and precious metals accumulations within the whole Palaeozoic series overlying the Pan-African basement inliers.La synthèse de trente ans de travaux et de prospection minière montre que les gisements métallifères du Maroc sont liés à six événements hydrothermaux principaux depuis le Néoprotérozoïque jusqu 'à l 'actuel, en relation avec des contextes géodynamiques bien identifiés. Les stratégies d'exploration minières au Maroc devront prendre en compte dans le futur ces contextes et périodes favorables. Les cibles suivantes semblent les plus pertinentes : (i) le magmatisme calco-alcalin fortement potassique à alcalin Ediacarien à Cambrien semble le plus prometteur car enraciné dans la croûte inférieure et/ou le manteau. Il entraîne avec lui le long de failles lithosphériques profondes des fluides juvéniles et des métaux, vers la croûte supérieure ; (ii) les formations ordoviciennes sont susceptibles de contenir comme à Tamlalt-Menhouhou des minéralisations aurifères de type IOCG ; (iii) les formations paléozoïques et les zones de cisaillement varisques, maintenant bien reconnues dans V Anti-Atlas, peuvent renfermer ailleurs au Maroc des gisements de métaux de base et de métaux précieux.Gasquet Dominique, Cheilletz Alain.
